At the Consumer Electronics Show in January, Alarm.com unveiled two exciting new technologies for owners of the Apple TV media player and Amazon’s Echo. Some Alarm.com systems will soon accept Echo voice commands, and Apple TV users can now download free software to use with home security/surveillance cameras. Both systems provide convenient and innovative ways to control household equipment and enhance the safety of the home.
Camera App
Apple TV owners can already download Alarm.com’s new software which lets them use their television set to view indoor and outdoor surveillance footage. They can even watch two to four feeds at the same time and adjust camera angles within the application. Watching television when you hear a noise outside or from the baby’s room? Use your remote to instantly bring surveillance video onto the screen.

Voice Control
Amazon Echo owners already have the ability to perform many tasks without pressing a single button. This handy device stands ready to assist people whenever they speak its name. It creates grocery lists, activates timers, plays music, answers questions and reads weather forecasts when users say the right commands.
The Echo will soon enter the world of smart home automation when Alarm.com integrates its system with Amazon’s product early this year. This will give users the ability to switch lights on and off and control your smart thermostat by speaking to the device. Depending on the specific voice command, the Echo will be able to instantly shut off every lamp in a room or turn on or off just a single, specific light.
Many Options
Alarm.com intends to add more features in the months and years to come, giving Echo and Apple TV owners further control over appliances and security systems. In the meantime, people can manage an assortment of smart home equipment with Alarm.com’s existing phone, tablet, watch and PC apps. For example, homeowners can already remotely adjust their thermostats, lock doors, open and close garage doors, and get real-time motion-activated video from anywhere around the home.
